If you ask yourself: "Why am I doing this?" Remember-- "It's your passion that drives you!"

Feature Mini 10: Ulixis

Today's Feature-Mini is about:

When Amanda isn't spending her time with real-time videomicroscopy of smooth muscle cell migration and working on her thesis, she is creating her lovely jewelry--scavaging through beads and buttons until the right one inspires another piece of wearable art! Peak into her world through her blog.

Feature Mini 7: DreamON

Our newest Etsy Feature-Mini artist is:

The name "Dream On" certainly captures the fantastical, dream-like quality of Mary's work. She uses wonderful colors to capture her central subject in an ethereal setting. Though she uses photographs of nature around her to inspire her painting, she considers herself an impressionist, because she does not "over-control" her media.

She leaves us with this nugget of wisdom: "Do what you love to do, and do it as much as you can!"

We cats love this painting: Cattitudes! It's purrfect for us! Don't forget to check out her notecards too!

Holiday Fashion Match-Up 2: Diamond

But I need some jewelry with this outfit! Just standing in front of some shiny, metallic wallpaper won't spice up my dress!

Of course you do honey! What was Banana Republic thinking leaving your neck naked this holiday season? You don't want to be a holiday-wallflower!

So, match that silk pleated dress in Brinjal purple with the beautiful, elegant Philadelphia necklace, with glass pearls and Swarovski crystals! Sure to bring a subtle sparkle to your evening!

Add some Abby silver metallic ballet flats and this silver beaded velvet clutch, and NOW you're ready for some holiday fun!

This season is all about jewel-tones, but don't leave those jewels at home! Take a peak in our shop for some great jewelry for your next party outfit!

Feature-Mini 5: BackwoodsCreations

We now "Feature-Mini"

At BackwoodsCreations, ordinary, commonplace items expose their hidden meaning and myth in beautiful fabric creatures and scupltures. With strong inspiriation from her mother, and many years of love of crafting, these recognizable pieces come to live with amazing feeling and animation. The movement in this Running Horse figure is remarkable!

Her advice: be true to yourself, and let your vision shine through. It clearly has in these wonderful pieces! You can learn more about BackwoodsCreations on her blog!

We are so happy that cats are well-represented in her work!

Vanessa is a graphic designer from MN, and she has created a line of stationary and cards that is striking in its simplicity. She draws inspiriation from everything around her--from vintage items to critiquing the menu as she sits down to dinner.

Vanessa continues to learn from each and every experience in her life, and she challenges other artists to do the same. In addition, she reminds us of the power of collaboration. Isn't that part of what these features are about! You can read more about her on her blog!

We cats really love Vanessa's Christmas cards! Particularly, the "All is Calm" birds and "O Tannenbaum" trees.

Holiday Fashion Match-Up 1: Sapphire

Inspired by the return of Project Runway, we are going to match some of our newest boutique line jewelry items to some of our favorite new fashions out in stores. Think of it as our way of helping you look fabulous for the holidays! And, as a previous Project Runway sponsor, we are going to start in the closets of Banana Republic!

Banana Republic is filled with clothes in Artisan Blue that matches the Turquoise Riverstone beads beautifully! However, this is a showy piece, filled with black pearls, frosted hematite, and Swarovski crystals, so we are matching it with this Strapless Dress, strappy black "Lauralei" sandals, and metallic jacquard wrap.

Look for more fashion pairings with Lazy Cat boutique jewelry! Now go out there and look fabulous!
Meow!

Feature-Mini 3: ElektraJewelry

Our next Feature-Mini is:

Greek influences eminate from all the piece's in ElektraJewelry's shop. These expressive works are created with top-quality materials: gold vermeil, sterling silver, semi-precious stones, lampwork and Murano glass beads. Dina's travels to Greece and her Greek background inspire her designs.

ElektraJewelry captures a unique style. Dina's advice: To find your own signature style, and always continue to expore new skills and new materials. Find out more on her blog, and don't forget to check out her new line of bracelets!

Michelle even got her own Fan Club!

In addition, we got a moment on the FRONT PAGE to advertize the Trunk Show.

Our second Feature-Mini artist is:

Steph is from Orlando, FL and has a very unusual shop with eclectic and interesting jewelry, in addition to a second shop, Undercurrent. The synergy of color, texture, and light combine to create comfortable and versatile pieces.
Steph's advice: The only time you FAIL is when you fail to TRY; and treat people the way YOU would like to be treated. Then you will be both a successful artist and human being.

Feature-Mini 1: SimplySaidBySarah

Welcome to our newest mini-feature series, or "Feature-Mini," where we use the EtsyMini to profile an artist from the 90-in-90 challenge thread on Etsy. Today's artist is:

Sarah is from NC, and designs invitations, cards, and other paper art. Inspired by the world around her, Sarah uses bright colors and patterns to evoke a sense of cheerfulness and happy, stress-free feelings. The changing colors of the leaves, the bright lights of the city, and playful childern are her current inspiriations.

Sarah's advice to other designers: Create from your heart and do what you love. If you put your heart into your work, it will shine through and bring meaning to you and its future owners.

Check Sarah out in her Etsy store, on her blog, or her myspace page! Also, please leave comments about what you think of Sarah and her work, and the Feature-Mini series in general!

PS: We cats will choose one item that most inspires us... like this Leopard print memo pad! Mrreoow!

Turkey Lurkey Time

Our moms love this song: "Turkey Lurkey Time," from the movie Camp, originally from Promises, Promises. They sing it all the time. It scares us! And they make us dance!

Mom even made a treasury on Etsy saluting it, in honor of Thanksgiving.

There's a Monkey on My Back!

Ok, not exactly a monkey, more like a monkey hat! (Stuff on my cat again?) My mom made up this cute monkey pattern and then appliqued it onto a crocheted hat for kids. You can find it in the Etsy store. It's a bit large for me, Nemo; however it would be perfect for your young toddler! Please, adopt Mr. Monkey today! Help get this monkey off my back!
